Evening Dresses and Gowns
History of Wedding Dresses and Gowns
Wedding is one of the most important events in every woman's life. Every detail is well planned and organized to make the special occasion perfect; from the decorations, to the wedding invitations, the wedding cake, the wedding favours, the wedding flowers, and most importantly the bride's wedding dress. Having a white, long and elegant gown that is made from the finest fabric and premium materials will surely make the bride the center of attraction.
Way back in the middle ages, evening dresses and gown, wedding dresses were a trend particularly in Europe. During the Victorian Era, long, white and silk-made wedding gowns became popular. Before that, the women's bridal gowns were shorter and even had bold colors such black and red. But after Queen Victoria's wedding with Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1840, more and more women opted to have white wedding dresses as respect and honor of the Queen.
Nowadays, wedding gowns are usually white to symbolize purity or virginity. However, this was not the real intention of Queen Victoria for choosing white as her gown. She opted to have a white wedding dress to go with the white lace that she wanted to incorporate on it. But whatever may the color white represent; it has been a tradition as a shade for wedding gowns and has been used by millions of brides for years now.
In the twentieth century, bridal gowns were incorporated with embroideries and beautiful laces that truly gave them a more elegant and classy look. Veils and wedding dresses with long train became popular too. During those days, the amount of the bride's gown reflects on how rich and affluent she is. But today, bridal gowns are not a measure of the bride's social standing. Nowadays, wedding dresses are no longer expensive, and they come in various prices that can go with the bride's budget.
As time evolved, wedding dresses have modified. But still, more women prefer wearing gowns that were commonly used in the olden times. For them, nothing beats the elegance and natural beauty of a perfect long white gown that truly makes the most special day of their lives more memorable.(EzineArticles.com)
